Square Enix Cafe in Akihabara!
Square Enix is a famous Japanese video game developer and publisher, and it is best known for its role-playing video game franchises. Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Kingdom Hearts series are the most famous game franchises of Square Enix. The Final Fantasy franchises is selling over 115 million copies, and the company employs more than 3800 employees worldwide.
This Autumn, Square Enix just opened its first cafe in Akihabara, the biggest electronic and anime shopping district in Japan. Different from the Final Fantasy XIV restaurant, which is also located in Akihabara, Square Enix Cafe will rotate the theme of its cafe periodically, covering all Square Enix famous game franchises and game characters. Some new menus and interior decorations will also be added periodically depending on the theme.
You can enjoy foods like burgers, pancakes, salad, chicken wings, and roast beef. Grab n go menus, soft drinks, and original cocktails are available as well. One of the most famous food menu is the Joshu beef avocado burger, which has been sold out for a certain period of time. Souvenirs and merchandises like Final Fantasy’s plush toys, figures, and home interior are available as well.
The price range of the foods is in between 500 JPY (tax incl.) and 1,350 JPY (tax incl.), and the price range of the drinks is in between 400 JPY (tax incl.) and 950 JPY (tax incl.), which is very reasonable for a cafe. The price of the merchandise varies, from 702 JPY (tax incl.) to 27,000 JPY (tax incl.), depending on which merchandises you are purchasing for. The most expensive merchandise is the Final Fantasy’s black silver ring pendant, which is 27,000 JPY per pieces.
You have to make a reservation before visiting the Square Enix Cafe, and I recommend you to make it in advance, as Square Enix Cafe is very famous among the locals and the visitors. You can visit the cafe without making any reservations, but you can enter the cafe only if there are unoccupied seats available. The cafe is usually crowded during the weekend and during the holidays seasons, unless you are lucky, it will be hard for you to enter the cafe without any reservations.
